That's the only thing that makes sense, Sham. Parker had two fights that went the distance, Williams and Coe. Not one of AJ's went past the 3rd round. Still, AJ is ranked 2nd and 3rd, whereas Parker can't crack the top 5 in the alphabets despite all his belts.
My guess is that it's political, in the sense that they rate AJ as a better and more explosive fighter, and want him sniffing around the title. Statistics wise, they are similar on boxrec, with AJ #15 and Parker #18.
On another note, I don't know why KB is so keen on fighting Wilder. Povetkin will beat him, probably stop him, and then there will be a unification and second fight with Klit and Povetkin. We're talking 18 months to two years. By then, anything can happen. What Parker needs to do, as KB surely knows, is to keep improving as he continues to fight better and better opposition. To me, that's more important than targeting Wilder. Of course, the better the ranking, hopefully the better opponent, as surely others will want to take Parker's place in the rankings.

Not sure how but after beating Bowie Tupou, JP has dropped two places in the WBA rankings to #12

These are supposed to be July rankings, so given parker didn't fight till aug 1st, his win won't impact till next month. Tepers fight with Price was July. That makes sense.
Ortiz didn't fight at all in July... That's the one that stinks...

Well, it looks like if you are ranked as the #1 contender, you fight tough competition. Like a guy who's lost 12 times:
IBF #1 Glazkov KOs Manswell in four
Undefeated IBF #1 heavyweight Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over outgunned journeyman Kertson Manswell (24-12, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at Basket Hall in Krasnodar, Russia. Manswell needed some time to recover after a hit on the break in round two. Glazkov scored a knockdown in round three with a grazing shot and push. Glazkov dropped Manswell again in round four and Manswell was counted out. Glazkov, the mandatory IBF challenger for world champion Wladimir Klitschko, got the win as expected. Manswell has now lost nine of his last ten fights.

Barry's boy Joseph Parker set for trainer's homecoming in April
Dean Lonergan said he is 100% committed to Joseph Parker fighting in Christchurch at Horncastle Arena in April.
Heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker looks set to return to Christchurch in 2016.
Co-founder of Duco Events, Dean Lonergan has confirmed to Fairfax that talks are well advanced on Parker fighting at Horncastle Arena in April and he is confident it will go ahead.
Parker is undefeated in 15 fights and is widely regarded as one of the top five young prospects in the world hoping to step up against the aging stars of the heavyweight division.
Joseph Parker's trainer Kevin Barry has strong links to Christchurch.
Lonergan was in Christchurch on Thursday working through some of the detail and said April was looking "very positive".
"We've only had one day down there and already a lot of partners seem very keen to get on board and make this happen.
"Fundamentally it costs over a millon dollars every time Joseph Parker fights in New Zealand so we need a strong financial support base," Lonergan said.
"It's expensive to bring guys down here to fight Parker because they know there is a good chance they could get hurt so they want to be paid well," he said.
Parker's trainer Kevin Barry, has strong family ties in Christchurch and Lonergan said both Parker and Barry have expressed interest in fighting in Christchurch.
"Joseph is like Kevin's new boy and he wants to bring him back and show him off in front of his family and friends because he knows that he's something special," Lonergan said.
Duco have been wanting to fight Parker up and down New Zealand to grow his supporter base before he inevitably spends more time fighting at his Las Vegas base - known as the fight capital of the world.
Local fighters would benefit with Lonergan confirming Bowyn Morgan, who has been on the last three Duco cards, would play a major part on the undercard and Reece Papuni would be another definite starter.
"We really like both those guys, they are entertaining and it would be a great chance for them to fight in front of their home crowd."
"We want to get Joseph down there as its been a hot bed of activity for boxing over the last four or five years but it does come with challenges," Lonergan said.
It has been well documented that the Invercargill City Council, Venture Southland, Invercargill Licensing Trust and Community Trust of Southland put up $150,000 to get Parker to fight in the deep south earlier this month but Lonergan said any similar involvement in Christchurch was highly unlikely.
"The Christchurch City Council are still facing challengers on the back of the earthquakes so understandably they are not in a position to jump on board to that kind of extent," he said.
Talk of an opponent for Christchurch is a long way off. Parker is scheduled to fight Kali Meehan in October and is likely to have two more bouts before Christchurch - one of which will be Samoa early in 2016.
If the April event goes ahead it will be a far cry from Parker's only other fight in Christchurch as a professional when he knocked out Dontay Pati in one round at the Hornby Working Men's Club in February 2013.
It was Parker's fourth professional fight and he was not aligned with Duco or Barry.

Exciting times ahead. The aging fighters require a purse to make it an interesting venture in their time of life and to be paid for the pains of preparation as with Kali Meehan etc; Kali has already indicated this is his final foray into the world of fitness and conditioning, time and sacrifice for battle preparation...not just and solely because he requires remuneration for forthcoming pain he is likely to suffer at the hands of young Jo....as per Duco quotes.
All the best to Jo in this one, but my heart is with Kali, I remember taking Regan (son) to Kali's dad's house in Auckland for sparring before Kali left for Aust.

Sham, a bit presumptuous I'd say. Duco is assuming that Parker beats Meehan. Probably will, but to put the next opponent/venue 8 months out? Not to mention January in Samoa. I will say this: it's nice to see him fighting 5X a year, unlike Tua, who fought about twice a year, when he wasn't retired.
I thought Duco/Parker was going to the US after Samoa. Guess that will have to wait. How much do you think Meehan and other Parker opponents are paid? $100,000 plus expenses. Chicken feed when you look at the overall gross amounts.
