Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller says he can “drown” Anthony Joshua in “any round”

Unbeaten Brooklyn bomber, or “Big Baby,” Jarrell Miller is in action this Saturday night, against another big guy in Mariusz Wach. Miller, one of the most prominent trash-talkers in the game today, is chasing a world title shot and the man he really wants to get in a ring with is WBA/IBF ruler Anthony Joshua.
Speaking with Sky Sports once again, Miller, 19-0-1(17) questioned both Joshua’s mental strength and the fact that he has gone from 220 or so pounds at the start of his pro career, to 254 against Carlos Takam just over a week ago.
“What I have seen, heard, and the way he fights, he’s a mental midget,” the 29 year old said. “Once I get there I’m shutting that down. I can drown him in any round. I can drown him in the beginning, I can drown him later. Takam wasn’t even pushing the pace and he [AJ] was getting tired. Imagine another heavyweight that is pushing the pace, and landing shots, who is bigger than him. It’s a whole different animal. No doubt in my mind, I will stop Anthony Joshua. First of all, he’s not a natural big guy. He started in the mid 220s. Now all of a sudden he’s 254…..and he’s a lot slower. His footwork is terrible.”
Miller added how he “hopes” Joshua – who has been called a “body builder,” or a “weight lifter” by some other critics, Tyson Fury included – “keeps on putting on muscle.” Miller, a huge man himself at 298 for his last fight, believes Joshua’s stamina is suspect and will become more so the heavier and more muscled he becomes.
Miller talks a great fight and he does make some good points, but until he gets cracked hard on the chin and proves he can take a bomb, there will be one big question mark next to his name. Let’s see if the experienced and durable Wach, 33-2(17) can test Miller in this department in New York on Saturday.
But Eddie Hearn has mentioned Miller as a possible challenger for AJ before now, maybe even for next spring if a Deontay Wilder fight or a Joseph Parker fight cannot be made.

Tyson, Bowe, Briggs: All from Brooklyn, all became heavyweight king – Jarrell Miller says he’s next in line

There have been three prominent latter day heavyweights to come out of Brooklyn; one of which achieved true greatness. Now, unbeaten Brooklyn heavyweight Jarrell Miller has vowed to become “next in line” and join Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe and Shannon Briggs.
Miller, AKA “Big Baby,” fights Mariusz Wach in New York on Saturday night and the 29 year old man-mountain (6’4” and 298 pounds in his most recent fight) says he is “coming for what’s mine.”
“You’ve seen Riddick Bowe, you’ve seen Mike Tyson, you’ve seen Shannon Briggs. I’m next in line,” Miller, 19-0-1(17) said in speaking again with Sky Sports. “If you know about Brooklyn, you know that Brooklyn has a pedigree, the homestead for some of the world’s greatest heavyweight boxers. If you like ‘Big Baby,’ trust me, you’re going to like him after this fight, I’m coming for what’s mine. Just tune in as I go for my 18th knockout against Mariusz booboo ugly Wach.”
If Miller can become as successful as Briggs, let alone Bowe and/or Tyson, he will have done well; better than his critics – who says he is a talker more than anything else – predict will be the case. Just how good is Miller, a big man with power who has an MMA background? Briggs of course became a two-time champ (lineal, beating George Foreman, and WBO, beating Seirhei Liakhovich to become America’s last heavyweight champ before the emergence of Deontay Wilder), while Bowe and Tyson ruled the world; Tyson for over three years.
Can Miller join these three warriors and rule the world himself? As long as he keeps talking and more importantly remains unbeaten, Miller will get his shot. Miller is proud of the place he comes from, posting a picture on social media this week that shows Tyson, Bowe, Briggs, himself, Zab Judah, Paulie Malignaggi, Daniel Jacobs and Junior Jones.
Indeed, some great, great fighters came from those tough streets. We’ll soon see if Miller has what it takes to become the next one.

Heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua officially replies to WBC champion Deontay Wider’s call out of after beating Stiverne.
Usually a more reserved character, Joshua has left it a few days since Deontay Wilder’s win at the weekend over Bermane Stiverne in their rematch.
Wilder inflicted a 1st round KO of Stiverne and immediately took to the mic to call out Joshua and take off his English accent – among other comments.
Joshua has let the dust settle and accessed the situation before finally giving his retort today.
Speaking to Kugan Cassius of IFL TV, Joshua told Wilder:
“I have not seen no contract or no offer in place. So now I’ve had to take it upon myself on my time off to kind of gather my team to travel to America to discuss negotiations so I can become undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, and that’s how business is done.”
Negotiations between some of those involved have been very public but judging from the two guys that matter, the boxers, they both seem to more than want the fight at least.
Unifying the heavyweight division and all the recognised belts is not something that happens over night and there’s a lot of boxing politics to get through, but here’s hoping that these fights get made in 2018.

Deontay Wilder wants 50-50 deal for Joshua fight

By Andy Brooks: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder wants an 50-50 split of the money for a unification fight against IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) next year. It’s unclear whether Wilder is serious about wanting a 50-50 split of the money for the fight or not.
Wilder isn’t the one that does the negotiating. He’s got his management that will be trying to work out a deal with Joshua’s people. However, if Wilder has given his advisers Al Haymon and Shelly Finkel their marching orders not to accept anything less than a 50-50 cut of the revenue for the Joshua fight, then we have a big problem.
Wilder’s stance on wanting half the money for a fight with Joshua could be the straw breaks the camel’s back. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn doesn’t feel that Wilder is in the same league as Joshua as far as what he brings to the table for this fight. Hearn doesn’t rate Wilder as being anywhere close to the same commercial fighter Joshua is in the UK.
“We’re not going to get less than what it is,” said Wilder to 78SportsTV. “It’s a 50-50 fight, period, point blank. No matter what he’s got going on his country, I’m the man to beat. Everybody knows this. Everyone knows I’m a beast. I’m their worst nightmare. When it comes to Deontay Wilder, me and Joshua will be big in 2018,” said Wilder.
If Wilder is 100 serious and ready to walk away from the negotiating table, then it puts Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn in a tough situation. They can give Wilder the money he wants or go in the opposite direction towards fights against Tyson Fury, Jarrell Miller and Dillian Whyte. Wilder could put himself in a better position to negotiate if he opts to let Joshua defend his title for a little while longer before he attempts to put together a fight with him again.
The way that Joshua is fighting now, it’s only a matter of time before he loses his belt to one of the contenders. Joshua’s stamina is getting worse with each fight, as puts more muscle. He’s not fighting as well as he did when he first turned pro in 2013. Joshua is slowing down as he approaches 30, and he’s looking beatable against older guys like Wladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam. Joshua could lose to an in shape and motivated Tyson Fury or even Jarrell Miller. All it takes is one loss for Joshua and that’ll put Wilder in a great position to get the 50-50 deal that he’s asking for right now.

Unbeaten heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (20-0, 18 KOs) scored a ninth round TKO over 6’8 former world title challenger Mariusz Wach (33-3, 17 KOs). Miller outworked Wach, who seemingly broke his right hand eventually prompting the referee to stop the fight in round nine. Time was 1:02.

Miller looked ok, but I think he can definitely be outboxed.

Followed it on ESB forum. They said both guys were overweight, and boring.
