AJ-Wlad is off. Wlad has retired apparently. AJ v Pulev it is then. Parker after that if he beats Fury.

Good decision he really has nothing left to prove. He's going out as a great who knew when his time was up.

Anthony Joshua vs. Luis Ortiz Ordered By The WBA

The World Boxing Association Championships Committee ordered the teams behind Anthony Joshua, who is the current WBA heavyweight champion, and Cuban puncher Luis Ortiz, who holds the number one in the ranking at the heavyweight limit, to start negotiations for a mandatory fight between them.

According to the resolution sent on January 11th, 2017, to both parties, it was reported that the winner of the Joshua's fight with Wladimir Klitschko, held on April 29th, 2017, had to face Ortiz after 120 days. 95 days have passed and, for this reason, the Championships Committee ordered to negotiate a fight between the British and Cuban boxers.
Both parties were duly notified that, as of August 3rd, they have 30 days to reach an agreement or the fight will be called to purse bids.

Joshua was initially being booked to have a rematch with Klitschko for a date in November, but those plans fell through when Klitschko announced his retirement from the sport earlier today.

There is another mandatory defense owed by Joshua, as part of his obligation to the IBF, to Kubrat Pulev of Bulgaria. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn is already making the rounds, stating that Pulev is the likely next opponent for a late October, November date in Cardiff.
But Ortiz and his handlers are claiming that a deal is in place between the sanctioning bodies, where their mandatory under the WBA is due to take place before the mandatory owed to the IBF.

There could be a legal battle, brought in by Ortiz's handlers, if he is skipped over in favor of Pulev.

Joshua's Promoter: The Plan is Pulev, Then Ortiz, Then Wilder

IBF, WBA, IBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) has a huge target on his back, and the other fighters in his weight class are all ready to take their shot.
Joshua was expected to have a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko in the fall. Those plans fell through when Klitschko announced his retirement from the sport on Thursday.
Following his Klitschko's retirement, the World Boxing Association ordered Joshua to face Luis Ortiz and the International Boxing Federation ordered him to fight Kubrat Pulev.

Even WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has called for a showdown with Joshua on November 11 in Las Vegas.
Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has made it clear that Pulev is going to be their next opponent - and then they plan to make the mandatory against Ortiz.
He says they are more than willing to face Wilder in a unification, but that fight is likely going to have to be pushed back until next summer due to the situation with the multiple mandatory defense orders.
"Rather than fight anyone of note all Wilder does is call out people he knows can't fight him," Hearn exclusively told Sky Sports. "The IBF resolution following the Klitschko fight is a public document for everyone to see: 'after the rematch there will be no request for a unification considered by the IBF'.
"Obviously we now have to fight Pulev and Ortiz and it's going to be a tough balancing act. The Pulev mandatory was called some time ago and we already have signed correspondence that if it's not Klitschko then Pulev must be next. I would say right now the plan is Pulev, Ortiz then if Wilder still has a belt then AJ can relieve him of that next summer."
"AJ is 100 percent up for fighting Pulev, 100 per cent up for fighting Ortiz and 100 percent up for fighting Wilder and he wants to do it in a way to try and capture all belts. It's going to be difficult but let me tell you this young man fears no one."

Deontay Wilder says he wants “Boogeyman” Luis Ortiz next: If people are scared to fight you, let me tell you who ain’t

James Slater - August 11, 2017 Leave a Comment

Deontay Wilder is shopping around for his next fight – set to take place, possibly, in November – and he may have found a most marketable and exciting opponent in dangerous Cuban southpaw Luis Ortiz.

Speaking with Premier Boxing Champions, the unbeaten WBC heavyweight king spoke about how Ortiz, also unbeaten, is a fighter other heavyweights are afraid of. But “The Bronze Bomber,” who said Ortiz is known as a “Boogeyman,” insists he does not in any way shape or form scare him.

“My coming back, I would love to have the Ortiz fight,” Wilder said. “I would love to have that and get that going. Ortiz is considered the “Boogeyman” of the sport, whatever that means. I’m the one that’s calling him out. I’m the one that wants to see him in that ring, and I do mean soon. If you’re the “Boogeyman” of the sport, if people are scared to fight you, let me tell you who ain’t.”

There seems to be no doubt Wilder means it when he says he wants Ortiz, but what about the WBC champ’s mandatory obligation to Bermane Stiverne, the man he has already beaten? No, nobody really wants to see that rematch and no, no way is Wilder-Stiverne II as good or as exciting a match-up as Wilder-Ortiz is, but if the WBC continue to insist on Wilder fighting Stiverne again then his hands are tied.

READ Wilder calls out Joshua but Hearn is firm; first up Pulev, then Ortiz, then Wilder next summer
Maybe Wilder will have to get Stiverne out of the way (and, as good a fighter as he is, or was, Stiverne would be expected to lose if he did box a return with the man who widely out-pointed him seemingly an age ago now) and then get in the ring with “Boogeyman” Ortiz.

This fight, should it take place, would practically guarantee both action and, one way or the other, a KO. It would also be a fight that would give both heavyweight punchers their biggest career test to date. Let’s hope it happens, as Wilder says, soon.

Whyte targets Wilder or Parker

By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing

WBC #5, IBF #7, WBO #10 Dillian Whyte (20-1, 15 KOs) is confident of victory over Malcolm Tann (24-5, 13 KOs) on Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska, which could get him a title shot against WBC champion Deontay Wilder or WBO champion Joseph Parker. “It’s good to make some noise Stateside because we are trying to make some noise to get the Deontay Wilder fight,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “It’s good to come here, put on a show, hopefully get the KO and go home.

“I am at a level now where I am just one or two fights away from big mega-fights, so we have to think about what we’re doing. I was having a conversation with Eddie (Hearn) and Frank (Smith) the other day, saying what we can do and what kind of fights can we get in the meantime because ultimately we are waiting for the big world title fight – either Joseph Parker or Deontay Wilder.”
