I think by fighting Wach Eddie will try build Whyte v JP 2 as a PPV at the O2

Wach would be a good fight to take and it'd be a step in the right direction, opponents like Leapai and the other guy I forget are fights that could have been done in a 3 month period. At least  Parker would have been active. Now it just seems like he's stood still hoping to be given a title shot, which let's face it when he was the only man to beat Ruiz seemed a good move but since Ruiz put on 100 pounds and got beat convincly by Joshua has backfired a bit.

RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 01-25-2020

The problem with Parker is that he's clocked off since AJ and Whyte. He's been forgotten and Mr Higgins has desperately tried to get him back in the mix. Between so so opponents and the spider bite, he's a forgotten man. Thanks to Mr Higgins lobbying for him, his high ranking is all he's got left.

Actually - they can afford to be patient

Parker is still well-remembered in the UK - and can still generate buzz there.

Joseph Parker ready for Daniel Dubois if WBO eliminator is ordered
07:23, Jan 28 2020

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker shows fast hands and good footwork during training.
Joseph Parker would be open to a WBO final eliminator against Daniel Dubois as he negotiates a clouded route to a world title opportunity.

Parker is at No 2 in the WBO rankings, one place higher than Dubois, a rising star in the talent-stacked British heavyweight scene.

They could be ordered to fight for the right to become the next WBO mandatory challenger as champion Anthony Joshua eyes a defence against the WBA's top-ranked Oleksandr Usyk.

Daniel Dubois is one of the rising stars of the blossoming British heavyweight scene.
Joshua is juggling mandatory fights for his WBO and IBF belts and now appears confident he can fulfil both those commitments, wanting to avoiding having to vacate a title.

"I think anything is possible," Parker's manager David Higgins Higgins told Sky Sports as the heavyweight division awaits to see what unfolds from Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn who also looks after Parker.

"It's great that Dubois is making waves and provided he keeps doing that, it's very possible that Joseph Parker would fight him. They just have to keep heading in the right direction.

"I personally think Joseph Parker has too much pedigree and too good a head on his shoulders for Dubois.

"Dubois clearly has great power. There's a lot of unknown there. I think Parker has got too much class. If we were ordered to fight, or put in that position, it's something that could be discussed down the track."

Joseph Parker and trainer Kevin Barry are eager to try to get the Kiwi heavyweight back in the world title mix.

Parker is in Las Vegas training for his opening fight of the year in Texas on February 29. Frustratingly, his opponent still remains unconfirmed though it won't be Dubois – just yet.

Dubois, a hard-hitting 22-year-old, has quickly amassed 14 straight victories as a professional including 13 knockouts and has claimed the British and Commonwealth titles.

His big scalp was respected American veteran Kevin Johnson though that victory came via points.

Dubois has a common opponent with Parker, having destroyed Razvan Cojanu inside two rounds last year. Parker laboured to a points win against long-time sparring partner Cojanu in 2017.

Hearn told Sky Sports he remains hopeful of putting Usyk up against Dereck Chisora in London in late March to keep him busy ahead of a world title showdown with Joshua.

Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach vows to be ready for Joseph Parker
12:30, Jan 30 2020

Veteran Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach has flown to the United States, insisting he'll be in top shape if he gets the nod to fight Kiwi Joseph Parker in Texas.

Parker's opponent for his February 29 fight in Frisco, on the outskirts of Dallas, still hasn't been named though the former WBO champion's manager David Higgins has confirmed Wach is on the shortlist and the unveiling of the opponent is "not far away".

Wach leaves Europe on Friday to go to New York to be a sparring partner for his highly-rated countryman Adam Kownacki who fights Finland's Robert Helenius in Brooklyn on March 7.

Mariusz Wach insists he has stayed in good shape since fighting Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia last December.
"Parker is one of the best boxers in the world. I agreed to the fight with him right away, but now I am waiting for the move from his camp and confirmation that our duel will come," Wach told dziennikpolski24 on Thursday.

"I haven't trained for Parker yet. I have a lot of offers and if I had to wonder which one to choose, I wouldn't have time to train. I assure you, however, that I will do everything to be best prepared for the clash with Parker.

"I've already had the opportunity to train with Kownacki. Now I will be his sparring partner. My form is growing, it should not be bad."

The 40-year-old Wach, who stands 2.02m, is coming off a gallant points loss to one of Parker's nemesis, Britain's Dillian Whyte, in Saudi Arabia last December.

That was his sixth loss to go with 35 wins in a professional career dating back to 2005.

Wach said he had stayed busy since beating Whyte, looking to cash in on some rejuvenated form. He had a two-week camp at home before getting the callup to spar with the unbeaten Kownaki.

Parker's new promoter, British kingpin Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing, is clearly finding out the hard way how difficult it is to find an opponent for the respected New Zealander who remains a force in a heated division despite his lack of recent activity.

This will be Parker's second bout in a three-fight deal with Hearn. It's on the undercard of the Mikey Garcia-Jessie Vargas promotion and now appears to be taking the form of a tune-up fight as the negotiations drag on.

New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker is hoping to make things happen in 2020.
"The plan is to lock in this opponent and look good, fight well and move onto bigger and better things," Parker told Boxingscene.

"There are a lot of big fights that we can make just as long as we win - take care of business first."

Ukrainian star Oleksandr Usyk (17-0) and Britain's Dereck Chisora (32-9) are two fights Parker remains keen to chase.

Usyk and Chisora look set to fight in London in late March or early April, bringing them into line with Parker's schedule.

"If we fight at the end of February and they fight in that time frame then we can set something up for after everyone fights," Parker said with hope.

"I will fight anyone after this fight. The biggest fight we can get after that and then the biggest fight again after that. I want to be involved in the biggest fights."

RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 01-30-2020

At this rate, they may take a fight fan from the crowd to fight Parker...

RE: Joseph Parker - African Monkey - 01-31-2020

Don't worry guys it'll get announced soon enough. Wach's an ok opponent. He nearly got that fat drug cheat Dillian Whyte outta there in his last fight. Much better opponent than Jerry Forrest that's for sure.

RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 01-31-2020
