RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 03-29-2016

I don't feel the hatred towards Duco is justified. Sure, the Martz and Bergman fights were pretty disappointing (especially the Martz fight - in retrospect, the Bergman fight wasn't too terrible).
They clearly wanted Parker to step up, they just couldn't do it, as they didn't have the dollars. Now that the Takam Parker fight has been forced on them, they've managed to secure it, in little old NZ. Good on them. I just hope that after the Takam fight, if Parker wins, the quality of opponents doesn't drop right down again before he faces the Martin/Joshua winner.

My problem with duco is with the crappy undercards they put on (crappy's being kind.)

RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 03-29-2016

There would be no Parker, not as we know him, without Duco. He couldn't even make it in the amateurs! Sure, there are not always the best match-ups, but you could say that about any pro fighter. For Duco to get the fight in NZ is huge, and props to them.

Stu told me that Izu's next fight will be in Poland, so he won't be on the undercard. If I had an issue with Duco, it would be ordinary undercards with plenty of mis-matches.

RE: Joseph Parker - Infern0 - 03-29-2016

The Duco thing all hinges on if Parker wins against Takam or not

If Joe gets chinned, isn't what he's been advertised as, then they have taken us all for mugs

We will see come fight night

RE: Joseph Parker - tm7 - 03-29-2016

I agree die, without Duco, Joe would be not be internationally recognised or the household name he is in NZ. Not even close. Imagine the NZ boxing scene if Duco hadn't brought it into the mainstream. Eddie Hearn and Matchroom get the same slack here in the UK but the fact everyone wants to fight in Britain is because of him alone.

RE: Joseph Parker - craigyid14 - 03-29-2016

Eddie doings for boxing what his old man did for snooker in the 80's and darts now. Them Hearns know how to talk it up.

RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 03-29-2016

If Parker gets chinned he gets chinned, no one taken for a mug its just boxing and it happens if duco believe JP maybe chinny they sure as hell ain't going to tell people!!
I'm behind the kid and supporting him, Duco have backed him and done a great job getting him international recognition while only fighting predominantly in NZ away from the boxing mecas.
If JP wins this fight and wins it well he may well become too big for them and they may have to sign him to a bigger stable to get better returns

tm7 is on the money here.
Without the success of Duco there would be no big bash on sky sport, no vs live which means there would have been no super 8s and no Cameron v Kali and the media would not be giving boxing all this love.
Do I agree with everything Duco do??? I don't even need to answer that... the Teina Pora v "a cop" was an absolute disgrace!
But there is no doubting the success of Duco has indirectly led to success for others and created plenty of interest in other boxing shows around New Zealand and Australia from casual sports fans that had died following Tua knocking out Cameron.
There would probably be no Hemi Ahio or Juniot Fa either,
Ducos undercards are terrible and usually full of mismatches but Samoa was the best yet so lets hope they keep improving. At the end of the day they are pretty new to it and working in area where the size of the fighter fools are tiny so lets hope things can get more interesting on their undercards.
I do think they have stuffed up by giving Parker two easy opponents leading into the toughest fight of his career though.
Also I get that Butterbean will be on the card but sometimes he is the fight before Jo or usually before the co-main and that cannot happen in front of a worldwide audience. if there is six fights he needs to be either the opener of second up.

Cheers Justa. Agreed on all fronts, especially Buttabean going first up, ideally not on the international broadcast, not sure if that's possible though.

Would love to see an undercard featuring Bowyn Morgan, Nik Charalampous, Jordan Tai (all with 50/50 or 60/40 fights against Aussies/Internationals) and Junior Fa (with someone durable).
