RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 12-16-2015 I think you'll see a watchful Joseph, kind of like the fight he had with Minto. Fighting on the outside, coming in once he sees an opening, then back out again. It'll be no doubt a step-up but I'm sure the confidence he has going into the recent fights will translate into some brutal combos thrown. He would know that it'll be a fight to show the rest of the division that his ranking is warranted. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 12-16-2015 I don't think they will take a fight like that unless for the No 2 spot in IBF. -Kiwi RE: Joseph Parker - gothenaki - 12-16-2015 Takam v Parker would be great. He showed he could take some shots against Povetkin, and has a nice compact style. Him or Ustinov, either way, I hope it's a challenge that takes JP a few rounds. For all the bravado, even big Team Parker fans like myself don't know what will happen as he steps up, and Ustinov/Takam is the perfect level for April to learn more RE: Joseph Parker - tm7 - 12-16-2015 Thanks Stu! Interesting to hear Eddie Chambers turned down the fight as he's been moaning on Twitter for a while about nobody wanting to fight him! Might be worth asking the question again, or he's full of sh*t RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 12-17-2015 Joseph Parker matchmaker: Anthony Joshua has flaws By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing Stuart Duncan who is the matchmaker for WBO #3, IBF #10, WBC #11, WBA #12 Joseph Parker talks to Fightnews and gives his opinion on WBC #2, WBA #13, IBF #9 Anthony Joshua and explains what he’d seen in Joshua’s victory over Dillian Whyte in London last Saturday “I noticed Joshua’s mouth gaping in early rounds and sticking the chin out with the shoulder down,” Duncan said.”Whyte didn’t fight the right fight and definitely came into the fight too fat. For a fight that was Whyte’s biggest opportunity to date, it’s almost like Whyte didn’t take the fight seriously. Whyte was flapping his mouth off before the fight, but he should have been snapping his punches out during the fight. “To create the chinks in the armour of Anthony Joshua, and I would normally say he’s a fairly complete fighter, but I see flaws in him after the Whyte fight. I’m not saying that to sing the song that Joseph Parker beats Anthony Joshua. Joseph Parker is a work in progress as well and there are components of his style that his trainer Kevin Barry is working on. “I suppose the most enlightening thing I’ve seen out of the Whyte vs. Joshua fight is to read the postfight comments and you read what Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn had to say. Both of them are singing the same song. “What Joshua said was I tested myself but I really didn’t pass the test. Joshua recognizes he has a lot of things to work on. Eddie Hearn also recognises that. So it was a valuable fight and a very good lesson. “It’s easy for me to be a critic when Joseph Parker has been in cruise control bowling his opponents over without getting any rounds in. He has only fought twelve rounds in five fights. Has that been by choice? Certainly not. We thought his last opponent Daniel Martz would have given us more rounds. We thought Saglam, the German champion, would have given us more rounds. We thought Kali Meehan would have gone better than he did as he had defeated Shane Cameron over the distance – so he had gas in the tank.” “I’m the matchmaker and it my focus to give Parker fights that give him the rounds. The list goes on and on of the top rated heavyweights we have offered substantial money to fight Parker but was refused. The heavyweights that were at the level that I thought could give Joseph some rounds – were not prepared to fight him.” Joseph Parker is scheduled to clash with American heavyweight Jason Bergman on January 23rd in Samoa on a Duco Events Promotion. RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 12-18-2015 From Stu Duncan's facebook page: At just 23 years old Joseph Parker is the youngest & most active heavyweight boxer in the top 15 world rankings today. Already rated with all 4 of the main sanctioning org's as high as 3 with the WBO - he is the most exciting young heavyweight prospect to come out of the Asia Pacific Region. He has the hand speed - power and skill set to take him all the way. 2016 will be the year of opportunity and with 5 fights scheduled the goal is to have him in a mandatory position by the end of 2016. We will be using these 5 fights to better prepare for what lays ahead with a number of rated heavys on the radar. JOSEPH PARKER ☆ KNOCKOUTS HIGHLIGHTS ☆ Joseph Parker Knockouts / Highlights 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFJz4MgMNuc YOUTUBE.COM RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 12-19-2015 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=933228470105263&id=659376097490503 I'm on my phone attempting this link. Hopefully it goes to a couple of training videos from Joseph Parkers Facebook page. RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 12-21-2015 So with the Ortiz win over Jennings and the upcoming fights of De Mori-Haye, Glaskov-Martin and Wilder-Spzilka.....and the comments made by Stu Duncan... What are your predictions on: (1) Joseph's April Opponent (2) Joseph's potential July Opponent (3) Any potential matchups that might hinder Joseph getting his preferred April and/or July Opponent signed. RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 12-21-2015 I think maybe Ustinov is still in the background if things don't happen quickly. But ideally Takam in April and Teper in July. Or even one of those guys in April and an actual title shot around July (!!!) Of course this is "best case" scenario. Duco will need real money to make those fights. But we have to think it might be possible. -Kiwi RE: Joseph Parker - gothenaki - 12-21-2015 I can see a bit of a race between AJ and Parker for the IBF belt. AJ is rated higher in the IBF and is fighting Chisora who is IBF #15, which will bump him up toward a mandatory. AJ has also previously stated he wants to go British, Commonwealth, European then World. Once he beats Chisora, Teper/Helenius is in the way for the Euro belt. If he wins that, he's mandatory. If JP fights Takam (#10 v #9), he might be able to skip past and go to #2 while the others are fighting for the Euro, and if there's any delays or injuries he may get a mandatory shot first. Probably comes down to politics and backroom dealings. Either way, it puts AJ and JP on a collision course, which has probably been forced quicker than either team would have wanted. The IBF lolly-scramble will be interesting... |
