RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 08-17-2015 I don't understand? Pride? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - tm7 - 08-18-2015 (08-17-2015, 11:55 PM)craigyid14 Wrote: I don't understand? Pride? From what I understand, Duco boss David Higgins former business partner split off and started a direct rival boxing promotions company with Sky Arena. Using the Super 8 format they began to sign fighters similar to how Duco have done with their stable. Sky's Super 8 format fell over much earlier than expected leaving Hemi (their prize fighter) without a platform to fight. He's now being pushed onto other cards to help promote him, but I never thought they would swallow their pride and put him on their direct and more successful rival's card (that being Duco). Correct me if I'm wrong? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 08-18-2015 Yes, that would be John McRae, who posts on here sometimes. Good on them for working with Duco to get exposure for their fighters RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - VADR - 08-18-2015 (08-18-2015, 03:44 PM)gothenaki Wrote:(08-18-2015, 12:08 PM)diehard Wrote: Yes, that would be John McRae, who posts on here sometimes. Bit premature to write SUPER 8 off - we'll be rolling another one out soon. We will only be promoting two shows a year in New Zealand. As a stand alone company we now have more freedom and flexibility in how we operate in the market. I have always taken a collaborative approach to business and we always work in the best interests of those signed with us. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 08-18-2015 Hemi's gonna be a star, I hadn't realized he'd signed with anybody exclusively. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - mippy - 08-18-2015 Who is trains Hemi? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - VADR - 08-18-2015 (08-18-2015, 09:12 PM)mippy Wrote: Who is trains Hemi? Hemi is trained by Lolo. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging it, quite the opposite. I'm impressed that Hemi is being put on a rival card to promote him. It's truly a case of putting the fighter first! And I'd love to see the Super 8 back, I just read earlier this year that there would be three more so having not heard anything I assumed it was all over. Good to hear!
