RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 05-24-2019 In his prime, I told James he should fight Butterbean in Taranaki, where he could make some good coin. I think he tried to, but it never eventuated. I don't think James backed out of the Nik fight, that's just not him. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 05-24-2019 Do you think he'll fight again? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 05-24-2019 Probably, but I hope not. All up to his wife, Kelly. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - justafan - 05-27-2019 Smiley apparently has pulled out of the Bryant fight with an injury RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - justafan - 05-27-2019 (05-24-2019, 06:50 AM)craigyid14 Wrote: Sounds like he bottled it. The above is a huge call. The guy has a whole swag of kids doesn't he? Good on him for putting his health first. It's seriously not worth the risk for what was on offer despite the fact I think he had no chance of winning the fight against Nik. If he bottled it I'm sure it would have been easy enough to say he had a back issue like many others have done in the past without getting into the murky world of headaches and turning any future promoters off RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 05-27-2019 Headaches for 3 weeks? For those 3 weeks, even the week of the fight he was saying how he was going to rip Charalampous's head off and goading him. He didn't cover himself in glory leading up to the proposed fight, I think when it came to it he really didn't fancy it. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 05-27-2019 Have you seen this? Looks interesting. I guess it's gonna be an 8 man heavyweight prizefighter type of thing. http://boxrec.com/en/event/785508 I'm back in Auckland at this time, running the Auckland marathon the next day. Might be a push to get from ellerslie to the city and then up early for the ferry to the start in devonport in the morning. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 05-28-2019 Craig, I only see 3 fights and 6 boxers. Who are the other two? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 05-28-2019 Apparently it is an 8 man heavyweight prizefighter tournament, other names to be confirmed. |
