Was it definatly Williams who Pati beat? Boxrec has a different opponent, a debutant.

Well it was all over FB about Pati Vs Williams at Hamilton. Boxrec would have the answers of course. Sorry, my mistake.

Die, whats this about Langton....?

Ricky is a good kid and was a talented amateur boxer in his day. If, like it says in the article, he can keep his weight under control he will be one to watch in the next few years.

RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - Daneo - 03-18-2015

Article said he's gone from 97kg to middleweight???? What weight was he fighting as an amateur?

RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 03-18-2015

Sham, Langton works out at the same gym as me in Opunake. He lost his first two fights, and then won his next six, KO'ing Pati. He's not going anywhere, as he's 41, but wants to do something at cruiser. Good guy.

The biggest thing that impresses me with Ricky Murphy is that he can cut that much weight and still be full of energy. He must be doing things very well in the nutrition and training side of things which always impresses me with a young kid as it's not easy with all the distractions etc.
Hopefully we get to the day in NZ when the average sports fan gets excited about boxing in the lighter weights. So many don't seem interested unless it's heavyweight???

Apparently Williams pulled out pretty late, Pati is scheduled to fight again in a month against Richard Tutaki, although he's always down as an opponent and often doesn't end up being any bodies opponent (not lately anyway).

RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - tm7 - 03-19-2015

Does anyone know who Shay Brock (2-0) is fighting on the Gunnar Jackson undercard this weekend?

RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 03-19-2015

I think the under card is all corporate fights mate.

RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - Fistic Fury - 03-19-2015

Daneo - Ricky fought at Welter 69kg pretty much through-out his career. He won quite a few NZ age group titles and was selected for the NZ Youth team to go to the Youth Games in India. He came up against Bowen Morgan at the nationals in his first nationals as a senior from memory and lost. As mentioned he is a good lad and I hope he does well in the punch for pay ranks.
