RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 03-10-2019 He used to be a brawler. This was a number of years ago. I remember people saying he needed to be more technical. He's always had a problem with his weight and discipline, but yes, he does work hard. My issue with him is that he's just too inactive. Hope that is changing. Markk, does Chris still train him? He had a similar fighter in Steve Heremaia, who was in the top 5-10 at middleweight, and could bang. Sadly, he too had discipline and money issues, and we lost him to the streets. Man, he was good. Like I said previously Nik has some things that impede him and i guess you could put them under the discipline bracket but its very complex. Nik has the issue where not many people want to fight him so fights are few and far between and a couple of knee operations last year. He is selling his own purses which he is doing very well at the moment in so is active with 3 fights in the 6 months. James will be a good fight for nik RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 03-11-2019 Thanks for clearing that up, markk. Only wish good things for him. What do you mean by "selling his own purses." What does that mean? Good to see him so active again. Are you going to the fight in 'naki? RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 03-11-2019 I wondered that, selling his own purses. Never heard that expression before. RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - justafan - 03-11-2019 WHAT??? You guys haven't heard of Nik the Greek's Cut Price Handbags, Wallets and Purses??? It's the busiest and best value shop on Queen Street! (sigh) I don't even have time to be on here let alone wasting my limited time on lame dad jokes... back to work I go! Better living and happy Monday everybody RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - diehard - 03-11-2019 Damn, and I thought I was keeping up with justafan. I'm gonna need to re-arrange my life to enjoy all the benefits that justafan does. Man, he's got life sussed! To be in his presence... RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - justafan - 03-11-2019 Die, you're making me emotional. That's about the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me! Anyway, back on topic! Good to see this fight getting some good coverage 'Smiling Assassin' gunning for world title https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/combat-sports/111125581/smiling-assassin-lani-daniels-gunning-for-wbo-light-heavyweight-world-title and The Whangārei nurse who heals by day but hurts in the boxing ring at night https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/whang-rei-nurse-heals-day-but-hurts-in-boxing-ring-night?variant=tb_v_1 RE: Professional Boxing in NZ - craigyid14 - 03-11-2019 Women's boxing should be banned from this forum , on the basis that it's dreadful. Are you going to the fight in 'naki? yeah i think ill come down for that and be in the corner with Nik, he is selling tables and GA for his purse to get on show and to help pay for opponents. Got his eye ni a bigger prize. Good to see that you're involved with Nik. I kept up with him when Chris was with him. |
