RE: Heavyweight Division - Kiwi - 02-01-2016

I believe Fury wins it. But even if he doesn't, there will definitely be a rematch unless Wlad retires immediately.

Just announced.

RE: Heavyweight Division - Infern0 - 02-01-2016

Awful fight.

Ortiz can't be affording to waste any time with poor fights, not at his age

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 02-01-2016

Might be boring, but I think Dimitrenko gives him a fight.  Interesting that Parker wasn't one of the possible opponents for Ortiz.  Ortiz is slow, and I think Parker would be even odds against Ortiz.  Plus, he just finished training for a southpaw.  I think one of the issues is that he's taking three weeks off, which means he starts training again mid-Feb.  Not enough time, even if he cuts his holiday early.  AND, I think Team Parker want to stick to the schedule of a fight in CC in April.

The Ortiz vs Dimitrenko (or it could have been Parker) winner faces the Fury vs Klit winner.

RE: Heavyweight Division - Infern0 - 02-01-2016

I think Team Parker should have tried to get the Ortiz fight but they didnt show any interest instead trying to call out Joshua for a fight which won't happen for myriad logical reasons.

Joshuas purse for the Whyte fight was $7,700,000

Duco supposedly "made an offer" to Joshua

Really? What was the offer, duco? i'd like to know how much you were able to scrape together from your fight for life profits to offer a guy who just made 7.7 million in one fight

If that fight happens Parker is the opponent, and it will be matchroom being the only ones who are in a position to "make an offer" not Duco who can probably only come up with a 250k offer plus some free burger king as their best offer.

If they are serious about parker they need to stop talking about unrealistic fights and making "offers" to boxers who they financially cannot attract.

Joe needs to go on the road as an opponent and make a name for himself in the states or the uk, Joe has all the talent but his promotors are small town shysters and they are just holding him back while spouting hyperbole at this point, eventually the nz public are going to catch on that they are being conned, eventually....

just my opinion

RE: Heavyweight Division - Kiwi - 02-01-2016

You make some good points, Inferno.

Joe may fast be getting to the end of what he can do in NZ. After April that may be it. We sure hope for a decent opponent then.

Needs to go overseas afterward.

Big purses for him in UK if he can get established there.

I just see straight through Duco events tbh.

Joe has all the tools, he's one of the most naturally talented heavyweights I have seen in a long, long time.

It's a shame Manny Steward isn't still with us as he would have loved a guy like Joe and probably would have him at the Kronk regularly.

Duco, we have to understand what they are and what their agenda is, obviously they are far more concerned with moneymaking than what is good for Joe, also they understand Joe is their only real ticket seller

So what's best for Duco will be to continue to put him on PPV in new zealand against low level opponents until they can force a mandatory spot. If it gets to that stage they realise that they can make more money that way. And if Joe loses, they will just bring him back and go back to the low level opponents under the guise of rebuilding him.

Duco won't want to risk joe in a fight with a live opponent, overseas for short money there is nothing in it for them. But there is a lot of career growth for joe taking that option.

It is what it is, Duco are a business after all so they are just doing what any business would in maximising their investment, but if i was Joe i'd get out of my contract as fast as possible

if Joe wins the title he can do voluntaries in new zealand, and he can promote himself, opponents like Lucas Browne etc would come over here for a title shot at Eden Park no doubt. No need for Duco if he gets to that stage.

That's what i hope to see in the future for Joe

RE: Heavyweight Division - NakiFan - 02-01-2016

Sellout at Eden Park under lights....I like the sound of that.

Just need to make it the undercard to the All Blacks vs England, and have Joshua fighting Joe.

PPV heaven.

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 02-01-2016

...except that Parker is stepping up in July, facing a live opponent, and will only very occasionally fight in NZ after July.

RE: Heavyweight Division - james5000 - 02-01-2016

Die I thought he was fighting a top 10 opponent in April lol. Then eliminator in July, then Fury by xmas?

Getting pretty disappointed mate

If he's going to face quality opponents like Bergman until he gets his shot, why did he not just take the Wilder opportunity?

Fighting Martz then Bergman has him stalling maybe even going backwards. He's getting bad habits, needs to keep his hands up.
