Now if he were to fight ZZ??? RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-15-2023 Wilder, AJ to meet separate foes Dec 23 With the Fury-Usyk showdown being pushed off the December 23 date, a mega replacement event is in the works with both Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua fighting in separate bouts. The lineup reportedly includes: Deontay Wilder vs. Joseph Parker Anthony Joshua vs. Otto Wallin Dmitry Bivol vs. Lyndon Arthur Daniel Dubois vs. Jarrell Miller Frank Sanchez vs. Junior Fa Jai Opetaia vs. Ellis Zorro Filip Hrgovic vs. Mark De Mori Everything will be confirmed tomorrow at a press conference in London. The December 23 event will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-16-2023 Ngannou gets WBC #10 ranking By David Finger At the 61st annual WBC Convention in Tashkent, Uzbekistan the eagerly anticipated ratings session kicked off in the heavyweight division. The most recent WBC rankings were unveiled at the convention and perhaps the most notable development was the presence of Francis Ngannou, who lost a split decision to Tyson Fury earlier this month in his professional debut, ranked at #10. Although it is hard to deny that any fighter who drops the world champion and loses a split decision deserves a top ten ranking, it is nonetheless an unprecedented development to see a fighter with only one fight in the world rankings. The other major development was the WBC board voting to switch places of #12 Joe Joyce and #14 Daniel Dubois in the rankings. The move was suggested to Francis Warren by Mauricio Sulaiman after Warren asked to see Dubois move up from #14, citing his performance in his word title fight with Oleksandr Usyk. “If Daniel and Joe were to be switched, would that satisfy you?†Sulaiman asked. “Yes. Joe will not be happy with me, but I have to be fair,†said Warren. The WBC ratings committee voted to make the change, with Dubois now the #12 ranked heavyweight while Joe Joyce drops to #14. The Fight Club OC event will also feature 11-0 super featherweight Austin Brooks in a potential WBA Americas Title fight, local welterweight Luke SantaMaria vs. Cameron Krael, 17-1 heavyweight Tervel Pulev vs Dionardo Minor, 14-2 super featherweight Viktor Spavinskyl vs. Darel Harris and more. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 12-10-2023 Lucas Brown KO'd in 4 In the first of three professional bouts in a vast IBA fight card at the Agenda Arena in Dubai, UAE, rising Russian heavyweight southpaw Mark Petrovsky improved to 7-0, with 5 KOs, after the fourth-round stoppage of former WBA heavyweight titleholder Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne (now 31-5, 27 KOs). Petrovsky, 24, who is relatively small in this era of huge heavyweights, started at a measured pace. However, his first real strike - a one-two combo with an accent on the overhand right - put Browne down in the midst of the first. The Australian veteran, who is 44 years of age now, got up but soon was rocked again - this time with a left-hand punch - yet retained his upright position. The drubbing of Big Daddy continued in the second round. Petrovsky landed another right cross to put Browne down. The Australian pulled it through but ended this stanza with his nose and right eyebrow bleeding. He shouldn't have gotten past the next three minutes, but the Russian amateur standout took the third off, allowing Browne some very modest success with mighty hooks that lacked both precision and quickness to trouble him. Petrovsky accelerated a bit in the fourth; Big Daddy's face was already a battlefield in a miniature. One of his major right hands pinned Browne to the ropes in groggy conditions, and referee Roberto Ramirez Jr. jumped in. It hadn't been yet a knockout, just a standing eight. But the Australian fighter failed to respond properly, and the referee waved the fight off at 1:34 of the fourth. The prizefighting part of the card, labeled "IBA Champions' Fight Night", is promoted by the Complete Decision and sanctioned by the UAE Boxing Commission. |
