RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 11-29-2020 Check pm RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-29-2020 Thanks craig! OMG, what happened? Did Dubois take a knee because his eye was closed, and then quit? He was winning the fight. Very disappointed in both of them. Dubois was the better fighter, and was ahead on the cards. But I don't rate either one of them for a mandatory. Slow, pawing, no snap in their punches. Yoda would be competitive with them. So would Fa. Parker would KO either one of them because he's so much faster than either one of them. I'm shocked. The top three (AJ, Wilder, Fury) are at the top level. I'd rate Parker the next best heavyweight out there. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-29-2020 Joyce knocks out Dubois in ten In a much anticipated showdown between unbeaten heavyweights, WBC #11, WBO #11, IBF #13 and Olympic silver medalist Joe Joyce (12-0, 11 KOs) used his jab to break down, then knock out WBO #2, WBC #7 Daniel Dubois (15-1, 14 KOs) on Saturday night behind closed doors at the historic Church House in London, next to Westminster Abbey. Joyce connected repeatedly with the jab in round one and kept landing the jab all night. Dubois connected with most of the hard shots, but Joyce’s jab closed his left eye. The end came in round ten. Joyce landed another jab right on the eye and Dubois took a knee where he was counted out. Time was :36. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-29-2020 Dubois took a knee from a jab??? And then quit? These guys got it wrong. It was Dubois who landed the jab all night. Joyce's jab was marginal at best, and how he closed Dubois' eye is beyond me. Mostly pawing jab with nothing on it. RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 11-29-2020 Yeah I watched it with my old man and I said to him, it's a good domestic scrap but neither of them are world class. It was a very watchable intriguing fight but Joyce's jab was rubbish, almost like a pitapat but it closed Dubois eye. And then in the tenth one flush and he just didn't fancy it. Crazy. I think I agree with you I'd fancy Parker and Junior Fa against both. Was the stream ok? I watched it on btsports here. RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 11-29-2020 I don't think he bottled it because his eye closed, but you'd think he'd be very disappointed with how it ended. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-29-2020 Daniel Dubois Vs. Joe Joyce – Live Action November 28, 2020 In a shocking upset, Joe Joyce (12-0, 11 KOs) stopped previously unbeaten heavyweight Daniel Dubois (15-1, 14 KOs) in the 10th round on Saturday night at the Westminster House, in London, England. Joyce, 35, wore down the stronger inexperienced 23-year-old Dubois with his power jabs and closed his left eye. In the 10th, Dubois took a knee and stayed down from eating too many jabs. In other words, Dubois basically quit. It would be interesting to see what Dubois’ promoter Frank Warren’s next move will be. Does he push for a rematch or try and rebuild Dubois against lesser fighters, which is basically the type of guys he’s been fighting his entire four-year pro career. Had Dubois gotten some experience against B-level fighters, he might have had a chance tonight, but he’s faced way too many C-level guys that he’s padded his inflated record with. Tonight, Dubois paid dearly for all these years of facing weak opposition. Unbeaten junior middleweight contender Hamzah Sheeraz (12-0, 8 KOs) defeated Guido Nicolas Pitto (26-8-2, 8 KOs) by a 10th round knockout. The referee suddenly jumped in and halted the fight prematurely in the 10th after Sheerez landed a series of shots. Pitto probably would have made it out of the round, but he was taking a shellacking anyway so it’s no big deal that the contest was stopped suddenly. The time of the stoppage was at 1:10 of the 10th. Jack Catterall decisions Abderrazak Houya Highly ranked #1 WBO 140-lb contender Jack Catterall (27-0, 13 KOs) stayed unbeaten with a lopsided 10 round points decision over little known Abderrazak Houya (14-3, 2 KOs). The score was 99-90. Catterall dominated from start to finish in dominating Houya with jabs and counter shots. It was an impressive performance from Catterall with him knocking down Houya in the sixth round. Three rounds later, Catterall dropped Houya a second time. In 2021, Catterall will be fighting for the WBO light-welterweight title against the winner of the Jose Ramirez vs. Josh Taylor unification fight. Taylor has already made it known that he’ll defend the WBO title against Catterall rather than vacating it to move up to 147. David Adeleye destroys Danny Whittaker Undefeated heavyweight knockout artist David Adeleye (4-0, 4 KOs) made short work of Danny Whittaker (4-2) in stopping him in the second round. After an uneventful first round, the big punching Adeleye knocked Whittaker down two times in the second. The massacre was then halted at 2:09 of round two. Jack Massey decisions Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid Cruiserweight prospect Jack Massey (17-1, 8 KOs) defeated Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid (16-2-1, 16 KOs) by an eight-round decision with a 79-74 score. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 11-29-2020 ...and this: Joe Joyce Breaks Down, Stops Daniel Dubois in Tenth By BoxingScene Staff Published On Sat Nov 28, 2020, 06:30 PM EST Church House, Westminster - In a highly anticipated showdown between two undefeated heavyweights, Joe Joyce (12-0, 11 KOs) broke down and stopped Daniel Dubois (15-1, 14 KOs) in the tenth round. The bout had numerous titles at stake, including the EBU, Commonwealth, British, WBC Silver and WBO International. Joyce came out pressing forward as Dubois was jabbing and countering off the back-foot. Joyce was landing well with his lead jab. In the second, Dubois started strong with solid shots connecting. A few big shots made Joyce hold on. At the start of the third, Dubois came out firing with hard shots. Joyce weathered the storm and was pumping a jab for most of the round. Dubois was doing a lot of body work in the fourth, as Joyce was still throwing a strong jab and Dubois's face was swelling up. The right hand was landing for Dubois in the fifth, with his jab starting to land. Joyce was going back to the jab and was getting hit with hard shots to the head. Dubois had the edge in the close sixth, but his left eye was swelling up. There were big shots landed by Dubois at the start of the seventh. Joyce took the punches well. Joyce was still looking to pump out his strong jab, with Dubois landing the bigger punches. Joyce came out stalking Dubois in the eight. He was pressing forward with Dubois forced to fight while going backwards. Joyce continued to jab well in the ninth, as Dubois was not being as active. Joyce landed several good shots in the closing moments. In the tenth, Dubois went down after getting hit on his damaged left eye and took the full count as the fight was called off. In the clip Dubois, yes Dubois, hits Joyce with a jab, then takes a few steps and then a knee. And then quits: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/index.html |
