RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-16-2020

This looks like it has some good meat on it for Parker.  Pulev is accounted for, as he awaits his shot at AJ.  Maybe Usyk too.  But Martin, Hunter, and Ruiz are fair game, as are Helenius and Hrgovic.  Forget Chisora, he's too much bother:  Yes, Parker is ranked WBO #2, but there's not much to fight there.  The IBF looks like better opponents.

IBF:

Champ: AJ

1. Kubrat Pulev
2. Charles Martin
3. Oleksandr Usyk
4. Michael Hunter
5. Andy Ruiz Jr.
6. Robert Helenius
7. Filip Hrgovic
8. Joseph Parker
9. Tom Schwarz
10. Dereck Chisora
11. Tony Yoka
12. Agit Kabayel
13. Zhang Zhilei
14. Demsey McKean
15. Otto Wallin

Interestingly, Hrgovic is fighting Jerry "Who?" Forrest in Oxon Hill, Md.  Surely Parker can do better than that for Hrgovic.

RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 05-16-2020

Obviously Hearn is taking it slow raking up wins for Hygovic to sneak him him through the rankings
Charles Martin would be good opponent -Helenius yes
Ruiz would be great if they build it as an eliminator type fight for decent coin
What about Pulev if the AJ fights doesn't go ahead

Pulev and Usyk both. Do they sit on their chances to fight the belt holder, given that it could be more than a year, or do they fight someone like Parker? Remember, Parker has a lot to lose too as a WBO #2 ranking.

RE: Heavyweight Division - African Monkey - 05-16-2020

With our travel restrictions in place I think Parker will be fighting locally for the near future.

I'll never understand the governing bodies, why have the IBF chosen not to rate Wilder or Whyte? Do they not see them as in the top 15 heavyweights in the world?

Makes no sense.  I do know that if you are the champ, the other alphabets won't rank you.  But as you say, Wilder and Whyte aren't champs, and aren't ranked in all the governing bodies.  At their level, you'd think the other alphabets would want them to have some fights with the top tier in their alphabet.

Wilder is ranked in two alphabets at least.  Please explain Trevor Bryan ranked WBA #1 for almost two years now with no activity?

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-17-2020

Matchroom Boxing is planning to return in July with four shows taking promoter Eddie Hearn’s backyard! Hearn told the Daily Mail that he will stage the events behind his mansion in Brentwood, Essex, England. The four-week run will begin with a female world title clash between Terri Harper and Natasha Jonas in mid-July and end with WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte against Alexander Povetkin in the first or second Saturday of August.

RE: Heavyweight Division - craigyid14 - 05-17-2020

I can't wait for these fights to happen (well apart from the women's fight), I'm currently watching German football as it's the only sport to bet on (that's watchable). The boxing will take it to a new level, people worry about the intensity being lost with no crowd, but I reckon a punch in the face will bring that back....
