Hearn has backup dates for May fights
Promoter Eddie Hearn expects three major heavyweight fight cards he has on the schedule could be delayed by the coronavirus, which is disrupting the boxing at least until May.
The fights are:
May 2: Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin
May 23: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Dereck Chisora
June 20: Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev
Hearn says he has contingencies in place to move Whyte-Povetkin to the middle of June, Usyk-Chisora to the end of June or early July and, Joshua-Pulev to late July, if necessary.

Warren: Is Hearn trying to steal the title?
In his his StarSport column, Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren responded to comments by rival promoter Eddie Hearn, who stated that his fighter Dillian Whyte could get the WBC heavyweight title if Tyson Fury has issues with the farmer situation.
“Dillian Whyte’s promoter might be thinking he can nick the WBC heavyweight title for his man. But let me tell you it won’t be happening,” wrote Warren “…I don’t expect UK Anti-Doping to take the matter any further. But what is Hearn’s game coming out with those comments? Is he trying to steal the title for Whyte?
“Why didn’t Hearn get his man a shot at the belt while he was in the No.1 position for so long? Is he now trying to get Whyte an easy shot at the title? That’s what happened for Anthony Joshua who picked up the IBF title by beating Charles Martin instead of having to beat the real best in the division.”

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum lashed back at rival promoter Eddie Hearn for speculating that WBC heavyweight Tyson Fury could face a suspension after a farmer made a claim in a British tabloid that he lied to UKAD (the British anti-doping agency) about selling “uncastrated wild boar” meat to Team Fury to explain why Fury and his cousin Hughie Fury both tested positive for nandrolone in 2015. Hearn opined that if Fury were suspended, his fighter WBC interim champion Dillian Whyte should become full WBC champion.
“We have to be cognizant of the participant’s feelings. The people’s feelings,” Arum told IFL. “We can’t start making projections based on ‘what if?’ That’s really harmful. So I would advise my friend Eddie Hearn to button his lip.
“It may be hard for him to keep out of the papers, and to keep out of the television. But he’s got to do it. He can’t keep speculating based on nonsense. That’s nonsensical, and he shouldn’t do it. I’ve read about the allegations. They’re so far-fetched. Why now, when Fury’s won the championship, does this guy open up his mouth? It seems to me to be totally beyond the pale and ridiculous.”

Andy Ruiz Jr has a lot of work to do with his habits outside of the ring if he's to recapture the world heavyweight titles, according to prospective trainer Teddy Atlas.
Andy Ruiz Jr's prospective trainer Teddy Atlas has likened the fallen heavyweight's eating problems to the habits of a drug abuser.
The hard-nosed Atlas has admitted an interest in training the super-talented Mexican-American but first wants an introductory period to set out some parameters to their relationship.
It seems Atlas appears to have idea what he's in for.
"With a kid like Ruiz, it's almost like dealing – and this is gonna sound harsh, and I don't mean it to sound harsh – but again, the truth sometimes can sound that way … it's almost like dealing with a drug abuser," Atlas told The Ak and Barak Show on SiriusXM.
"You know, he's got a problem with eating. And if you had a kid that you were really trying to save from drugs, what would you do? You don't have to be a drug counsellor to understand that you'd remove him from the things that are comfortable for him. You remove him from his surroundings.
"Well, the same thing with a Ruiz. I'd have to remove him from his surroundings. 'Oh, Teddy, you don't want him with his father. Oh, you don't want him with his family. Oh, you wanna be a dictator.' Uh, yeah. Yeah. You wanna call it that, go ahead and call it that. You have to do what's gonna be able to change things."
Respected boxing trainer and commentator Teddy Atlas wouldn't stand for any nonsense if he was in charge of Andy Ruiz Jr.
Atlas says with Ruiz's current situation of having earned huge money for his win and loss to Anthony Joshua, it's important as a trainer to know what's motivating the fighter. That's why he's eager to set up an exploratory meeting.
"I haven't agreed to anything, other than saying that if you're serious, you come to New York and you spend a couple days with me," Atlas told The Ak and Barak Show" on SiriusXM.
"During that time, I would work in the gym, see how coachable you are, get an idea and a feel for your attitude and ask some very important questions – I think important for you, but definitely important for me.
"Why is this important to you now? You're a multi, multimillionaire. Why is it important to you? Why? Why do you wanna continue doing this? And what is your expectation? And I would listen to him. And then I would have a decision to make. And he would have a decision to make, whether or not he could get along with my philosophy, that he could buy into what I would believe."
Struggling for movement, Andy Ruiz Jr was regularly hit by Anthony Joshua in their heavyweight world title rematch.
Atlas is wary of the way Ruiz's respected coach Manny Nobles was sacked in the aftermath of the December loss to Joshua in Saudi Arabia. He doesn't feel the coach should be blamed for the fighter's own downfall after turning up out of shape.
"I think it's wrong. That'd be part of it, too. Those would be part of my questions, because I would wanna know. 'So, you think that other people are guilty of the fault here? And it doesn't lie on you?'
"Because being able to take responsibility, and even loyalty … there's a power to that. There's a strength to that. And not being able to do that, there's a weakness to that."
Ruiz has been training at his home gymnasium and expressed a desire to get back into action.
Atlas suggested any reset fight would need to be against an opponent Ruiz would comfortably beat with the tests getting tougher from there.

Looks like the proposed July 18 date for Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder will be pushed back due to the coronavirus situation. Promoters are reportedly looking at an OCTOBER date.

Heavyweight Alexander Povetkin has completed the first stage of training in the Russian resort Sochi, but there are difficulties with the arrival of booked foreign sparring partners and Povetkin needs Russian replacements. He is training for a May 2 clash in the UK against Dillian Whyte, although that date is certainly in jeopardy.

British boxer Dillian Whyte enjoys winding up rival heavyweights and has had a crack at Andy Ruiz Jr.
British boxer Dillian Whyte has been humiliating heavyweight rival Andy Ruiz over his weight issues.
With Ruiz's prospective trainer Teddy Atlas claiming the Mexican's eating habits were like that of a "drug abuser", Whyte has chimed in with some body blows to the former world champion.
He started by tweeting a video of an obese man struggling to get out of a sports car but moving quickly when a hamburger was placed in front of him. Whyte captioned it: "You need to chill bro, chill champ, chill" with the hashtags #fastcars #fastfood, a hit on Ruiz's liking for both.

Whyte then taunted Ruiz by posting a video of another obese man doing some dance moves, saying: " Stick to boxing brother, leave the dancing alone." His hastag this time of #Andythecakedestroyer was a play on Ruiz's "Destroyer" fighting nickname.
But this wasn't a one way fight and Ruiz came back with a merciless reply.
He found a video of Whyte being knocked senseless by fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua, telling his teaser: "Bro you still running your mouth? Hold this L to your forehead. Thank you for showing us the Stanky Leg."
Ruiz is yet to announce his plans following his December loss to Joshua. He went 12 rounds with Joshua in Saudi Arabia but lost a unanimous points decision.
That was in stark contrast to his exhilarating seventh round knock out of Joshua in their first fight in New York last June where Ruiz became Mexico's first heavyweight world champion in one of the division's biggest upsets.
Andy Ruiz Jr turned up in poor shape for his world title rematch with Anthony Joshua and was soundly beaten on points.
Whyte is currently in Portugal training for his scheduled May 2 fight with Russian Alexander Povetkin in Manchester that is under threat of being postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Whyte drove 40 hours from Britain to his training camp base.
"The mindset is my date is still going ahead, so I'm training," Whyte said, on an Instagram live video
"I had to drive 40 hours non-stop from my house straight to here. I drove because I brought the dogs with me, so I didn't want to fly.
"It's very important to show people in this time that it's important to train, to get on with life the best you can in these kinds of situations, because it is easy to panic and just shut down. I'm just trying to show as much positivity as I can.
"It's quiet but there's food on the shelves and I have a good set-up here."
