RE: Heavyweight Division - Infern0 - 05-17-2018 Reminds me of that ali raymi guy RE: Heavyweight Division - bopman - 05-17-2018 JP should go after his old belt. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-19-2018 Tarver vs. Kauffman set for June 10 49-year-old former world champion Antonio Tarver (31-6-1, 22 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time since 2015 against Travis Kauffman (31-2, 23 KOs) in a heavyweight clash on Sunday, June 10 at the Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster, California. The ten bout card will be presented by TGB, Team Estrada and Roman Promotions. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-21-2018 Tyson Fury vs who knows him? https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12055364 RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-24-2018 Dillian Whyte losing his patience: I hate heavyweight boxing. It’s full of cowards James Slater - May 22, 2018 Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte is fast running out of patience. Very much aching for a big fight, Whyte, who won an elimination bout in flattening Lucas Browne last time out, is certain his fellow contenders are avoiding him. In fact, in speaking with Sky Sports today, the once-beaten contender was moved to say he “hates” his weight class in boxing, that the heavyweight division is “full of cowards.” A final eliminator between Whyte and Kubrat Pulev will go to purse bids this week, on Thursday, but Whyte says he strongly believes Pulev wants no part of him. “Pulev doesn’t want to fight. He gets in these positions to fight mandatories, or gets in these eliminators and doesn’t want to fight,” Whyte told Sky Sports.”He’s just wasting time, it’s a straightforward fight, the winner gets a crack at the big apple. I’m up for the fight, he says he’s up for the fight. He said I’m the perfect opponent for him. Well for some reason, him and [promoter] Kalle (Sauerland) are taking [too] long. I hate heavyweight boxing. It’s full of cowards.” Of course these strong words could prove to come back to haunt, and hurt, Whyte in a big way and we will see if he is right or wrong about Pulev not wanting to fight him. A date of July 28 is pencilled in for Whyte’s next fight, at The O2 in London, so let’s wait and see if Pulev – himself beaten just once at pro level – does agree to the fight. If not, Whyte says he’d very much like to fight Dominic Breazeale in a final eliminator for the WBC crown. Either way, Whyte has to get his big chance soon. He has earned it after all. Whyte against Pulev would be a good fight for both men, and likely a good, fun fight for us fans. While a clash between Whyte and Breazeale would possibly be even better. Whether he gets a second shot at Anthony Joshua or a crack at Deontay Wilder, Whyte is determined to win himself a world title ASAP. RE: Heavyweight Division - NakiFan - 05-26-2018 RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 05-27-2018 Szpilka decisions Guinn in Poland Szpilka (21-3, 15 KOs) scored a ten round unanimous decision over 43-year-old American Dominik Guinn (35-12-1, 24 KOs) on Friday night at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland. Szpilka dropped Guinn in round ten, but couldn’t get the stoppage. Spilka ended a two fight losing streak, bouncing back from KO losses to Deontay Wilder and Adam Kownacki. Guinn returned to the ring after a two year layoff following a points loss to Hughie Fury. In the co-feature, WBC female super middleweight champion Ewa Piątkowska (11-1, 4 KOs) edged Maria Lindberg (16-4-2, 9 KOs) by majority decision over ten. Scores were 96-94, 96-94, 95-95. Also, heavyweight Izuagbe Ugonoh (18-1, 15 KOs) scored a second round TKO over “Big Fred” Kassi (18-8-1, 10 KOs). Ugonoh rebounded from his first loss against Dominic Breazeale 15 months ago. Kassi is now 0-6-1 in his last seven fights. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 06-02-2018 Anthony Joshua-Deontay Wilder latest: Hearn says if Wilder doesn’t accept offer, it will be Alexander Povetkin next James Slater - June 1, 2018 The negotiations have been rumbling on for weeks now and we are still left wondering if rival heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder will fight next; if they will fight at all. AJ promoter Eddie Hearn gave Sky Sports the latest earlier today and he said that there is a good chance Joshua will face WBA mandatory Alexander Povetkin next – if Wilder does not accept the offer that it currently on the table. “I don’t like making deadlines because sometimes it gets people’s backs up but at some stage soon we have to make a decision,” Hearn said today. “We are close to closing a deal with Povetkin with Robinsky and World of Boxing and once the deal is closed, there is no Deontay Wilder. My dad is out in New York at the moment, and he might meet Shelly [Finkel] today. They have our offer so they have to accept it or move on. It’s not a case of if you don’t accept this offer the fight is dead, we will just fight Povetkin and carry on our negotiations to the next one. It has to be the next one, or the one after that. Joshua wants to fight. We’ve got an opportunity to go in September and Josh is keen to fight in that month and if Wilder wants it, it’s there. But I do still believe Wilder will take this offer.” Deontay Wilder on Joshua showdown: It will be September if it's in England - if it's here in America it'll be November Hearn then spoke of how dangerous a fight Povetkin would be for AJ, adding how “Josh could lose to Povetkin and then the Wilder fight is up in smoke.” So, will Wilder accept the deal Hearn has put his way? If not it seems it will be Joshua-Povetkin next. But where would the fight take place – in the UK or in Russia? And who would Wilder fight next if it’s not the big one with Joshua? Providing both champions won and retained their respective belts in their next fight, Wilder and Joshua could still fight next year. Fans are willing to wait for this guaranteed explosion, but the clash would not be anywhere near as big if one of the two stars had a loss on their record. Can Wilder and Joshua remain unbeaten until, say, the summer of 2019? Let’s hope so. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 06-10-2018 Fury wins in comeback fight Former world heavyweight champion Tyson “Gypsy King” Fury (26-0, 16 KOs) returned with a one-sided four round TKO over Sefer “The Real Deal” Seferi (23-2, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. The 6’9 Fury, who has been sidelined with mental health issues for the past 2½ years, towered over the 39-year-old Seferi who mostly campaigns at cruiserweight. The tone of the fight was set when Fury kissed Seferi on the lips during the pre-fight face-off. The fighters smiled and touched gloves several times. At one point Fury was warned by the ref to stop talking to the crowd. The non-competitive affair ended when Seferi quit after round four. It was Fury’s first fight since dethroning Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015 RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 06-12-2018 JUNE 11, 2018 Wilder: $50 million offer to Joshua still available WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has again used social media to call on WBA, IBF, WBO heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua to accept his $50 million offer. ?BREAKING NEWS? for all you @anthonyfjoshua fans… The $50M offer for him to fight me next in the US is still available. Today I even agreed to their offer to fight Joshua next in the UK. If he prefers the fight in the UK, the ball is in their court. It’s up to them to choose. |
