RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-28-2018 https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/daniel-jacobs-vs-maciej-sulecki-jarrell-miller-vs-johann-duhaupas-final-quotes/93686 RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-28-2018 Whyte: I feel betrayed by WBC By Ray Wheatley — World of Boxing WBC #1 heavyweight Dillian Whyte is disappointed the WBC has ordered he fight WBC#4 heavyweight Luis Ortiz for the mandatory position.”I’ve fought for every single belt the WBC said I was eligible for. I’m one of the only guys in the WBC who has followed the proper procedure. I fought many eliminators, and many WBC ranking fights. I’ve been loyal to the WBC for about two years,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “I’ve had the sanctioning fights, I’ve done everything they have asked me to do. My information was – I was meant to be next in line. If anything, the WBC should be ordering me and Breazeale to fight in a final eliminator to face Wilder. “I’ve had loads of WBC fights and they’ve always been against top contenders. [Dereck] Chisora, Helenius, Browne. These haven’t been against mugs, they have been against top contenders, who are highly ranked in the WBC as well. We’re going to try and see what we can do, and see whether or not we can reach some sort of agreement with the WBC. I’m very, very disappointed and annoyed. I feel betrayed by the WBC to be honest.” RE: Heavyweight Division - African Monkey - 04-29-2018 Johann Duhaupas v Jarrell Miller today on sky sport. Miller weighed in at 304 pounds! RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 04-29-2018 Miller took it wide on cards Miller v JP in UK (if JM still with Eddie H) ?? RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-29-2018 Jarrell Miller Dominates Johann Duhaupas For Decision Win By Thomas Gerbasi Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York - Unbeaten heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller has been chasing down a world title shot for a while now. On Saturday night in the co-main event at Barclays Center in his hometown of Brooklyn, he got one step closer with a clear-cut 12-round unanimous decision over France?s Johann Duhaupas in a WBA title eliminator. Scores were 119-109 twice and 117-111. Miller, who weighed in at a career-high 304.4 pounds, didn't appear to be slowed down by the extra weight in the opening frame, as he cut the ring off on the Duhaupas (244.2 pounds) and opened fire with both hands during the several times he caught him on the ropes. Duhaupas smiled at Miller after taking another early barrage in round two, but there would be no such reaction after he ate a right uppercut that buckled his knees a minute in. A low blow by Miller bought Duhaupas a break, but when the action resumed, 'Big Baby' was back on the attack, wrapping up another round on the scorecards. There were some good close quarters exchanges in the third frame, and while Miller still led the action, he was giving Duhaupas more than a few opportunities to get himself back in the fight. Miller picked the pace up again in round four, and though he got drilled by a hard uppercut by Duhaupas, he was apparently unbothered by the blow, as he got right back to business, simply outworking his opponent. In rounds five through seven, Duhaupas continued to show his grit and his chin, as he took several hard power shots and shook them off before responding with plenty of punches of his own, turning the fight into a war of attrition. By round eight, Duhaupas was having success with his potshots as Miller tired, but he was not hurting the New Yorker or staying busy enough to make a significant move to win the fight. The ninth was another Miller round, and though he drew blood from his opponent's mouth in the tenth frame, Duhaupas wasn't able to take advantage of Miller?s rapidly emptying gas tank. The 11th round was when WBC champion Deontay Wilder stopped Duhaupas in their 2015 bout, and if Miller wanted to match that result, he made the effort, but the gutsy Frenchman wouldn't go down, extending the bout for three more minutes despite a long look from the ringside doctor between rounds. There would be no miracle comeback for Duhaupas in the 12th round, but he undoubtedly earned some fans for his effort in defeat. With the win, Miller improves to 21-0-1 with 18 KOs. Duhaupas falls to 37-5 with 24 KOs. RE: Heavyweight Division - NakiFan - 04-30-2018 RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-30-2018 Thanks for the video, Nakifan. I think Joe needs to forego Jennings and go after Miller. Except Miller won an eliminator. Who's Miller's next opponent? RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 04-30-2018 Thanks for that, NakiFan. In retrospect, don't see Jennings as a good fight for Joe. Won't KO him, and may even lose, as Jennings has got some speed and skills. I saw that the Miller/Duhaupas was an eliminator. I'm assuming for the WBA title. If so, he's got a long wait for AJ, unless AJ is looking for some opponents in the US. RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 04-30-2018 I would prefer Miller as slower and not a big power puncher But the Jennings fight maybe easier made - through promoters still the Chinese fulla first fight back.... |
