Joshua is not always aggressive early, look at the Martin fight, he was very tentative in round one. He will be very tentative with Wlad early as well, both of them will be.

Of course Joshua has a chance, but imo it's just a punchers chance. Wlad actually has pretty good foot speed, combine that with his excellent jab, experience, stamina and power...I just cannot see one dimensional AJ getting the better of him, certainly not out boxing him.

The two noted punchers he fought in those years.

1. Sam Peter

Big power but NO handspeed or foots peed.  Literally a statue who is rooted to the spot and throws slow, wide power shots.

Had klitschko down 4 times but got outboxed and lost decision (second fight he was shot so I won't count it)

2. David Haye

Too small and tried to counterpunch for 12 rounds, so didn't land anything of note.

That really is it as far as punchers go, povetkin is heavy handed but not a power guy imo.

This is a real test for klitschko, he's facing his most dangerous opponent since sanders here (haye had the potential to be dangerous but bottled it)

Joshua gets a lot of hate because he's a bit overhyped and some (parker fans) are jealous it's not parker getting the hype, but go back a few years when all there was in the division was fast but weak cruiserweights (Adamek, chambers), big statues like wach and Jameel mccline, or medium sized fat plodders like Manuel charr.

We were crying out for guys like Joshua and Wilder back then.

I think people need to appreciate the young talent we have in the division now.

Go watch fricking wlad-ibragamov if you need a reminder

RE: Heavyweight Division - Msreef - 10-13-2016

It's not about hating on Joshua, it's about being fair to both fighters. You can say that Joshua is the most dangerous opponent since sanders, but who has AJ actually beaten? Three unproven fighters, at top 30 level at best. Wlad has beaten every top contender or prospect in the last 10 years. Wlad is very proven at the top level. Joshua is not, not even close, he is still untested in so many ways.
This is a big, big step up for him, he hasn't faced the fighters he should have before Wlad.

In saying all of that, if he outboxes Wlad and wins, I will take my hat off to him.

RE: Heavyweight Division - Infern0 - 10-13-2016

Resumes aside it's about styles too

I picked fury over klitschko because while both had weaknesses and Wlad was far more proven, the styles were in Fury's favour.

Theres certain things klitschko relies on to make his style work. Holding and clinching excessively is one, home advantage and pre fight mind games is another, height and reach is another.

Joshua has a style that is all wrong for him, he reminds me of a young Lennox Lewis. The only bad thing about that... he can be hit

But youth and aggression isn't what a 40 year old klitschko needs right now.

Joshua definatly won't outbox klitschko it'll be early ko or nothing, but the division is closing in around klitschko and he can't just pick easy fights and get Vitali to take care of the threats anymore.

This is a legacy fight for klitschko because if joshua banjos him there's gonna be questions about his entire career.

This is what makes this such an exciting fight! Will klitschko preserve his legacy!

If Joshua does win, and Parker beats Ruiz, hot dang that's going to be an awesome unification fight.

I kind of hoping the WBA isn't on the line for Klitschko-Joshua

There were rumors Haye could fight for it which would be good

Then you have Joshua-Haye-Wilder-parker

You can do two unification and a grand final

Otherwise I can see joshua and wilder fighting back end of next year and Joe just having to wait around

I don't want to see Joe vs alex leapi at the waikato arena as a title defence

RE: Heavyweight Division - bart - 10-13-2016

yep inferno I like what u said how Wlads tem would get Vitaly to take care of the threats as that was really how it went. Wlad was tech a better boxer and athlete VK was a mean SOB not to be messed with. Not many guys around now would mix it with him.

I do, I do. I'm very excited about the heavyweight division. There are about 8 fighters who are very good, and it's not a given that one could beat the other.
