RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-01-2016 Parker/Ruiz a possibility: http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/84859563/heavyweight-boxing-champion-tyson-fury-tests-positive-for-cocaine RE: Heavyweight Division - African Monkey - 10-02-2016 For anyone interested, David Price vs Ivica Perkovic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9b1MDsWz48 RE: Heavyweight Division - South Africa Man - 10-03-2016 Ruiz? How is that fatso a contender? Imagine what prime Frans Botha would do to him? RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-04-2016 Tyson Fury lashes out at boxing and 'medea' saying you 'can't get rid of me' Tyson Fury tweeted: "I'm the greatest, & I'm also retired". Troubled world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury has swiftly backtracked after proclaiming himself "retired" from the sport, saying he plans to defend his titles when he "gets better". On Tuesday morning (NZ Time), the WBO and WBA title-holder lashed out at the sport in a profanity-laced tirade on Twitter. "Boxing is the saddest thing I ever took part in, all a pile of s..., I'm the greatest, & I'm also retired, so go suck a d..., happy days," he wrote. But in another tweet three hours later, he suggested it was just a joke, saying opponents couldn't "get rid of" him that easily, and promising to continue fighting. Hahahaha u think you will get rid of the GYPSYKING that easy!!! I'm here to stay. #TheGreatest just shows u what the Medea are like. Tut tut The controversial 28-year-old was last month declared medically unfit to fight in a rematch with Ukrainian fighter Wladimir Klitschko, whom he beat last November. Fury was understood to be struggling with mental health issues, and had twice pulled out of potential rematches. But on Tuesday, he said he planned to defend his titles when his health improved. Soon as I get better I'll be defending what's mine the heavyweight thrown. Fury earlier tweeted a video of lawyer George Kokkalenios "telling the truth about the corruption in boxing". However, Fury's career hangs by a thread after reports he failed a drug test. On Saturday, ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael reported that Fury had failed a random urine test on September 22 for the substance benzoylecgonine, the central compound found in cocaine and the marker for a positive test for the banned substance. Fury responded by posting a picture on Twitter with his head superimposed on the body of Tony Montana, the character played by Al Pacino in the 1983 film Scarface, sitting in front of a large pile of cocaine. It was expected Fury would be suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC), and be stripped of his titles, freeing up the belts for Parker to contest. That would spell good news for New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker, who defeated Russian Alexander Dimitrenko in Auckland on Saturday. Parker's mandatory position with the IBF and his No 1 ranking with the WBO are suddenly even more valuable if Fury's departure opens up the division. Parker's handlers Duco Events could push ahead with their radical plans to fight for the WBO belt in New Zealand against American Ruiz this summer. And it would mean plans to have the WBA belt available for IBF champion Joshua's proposed fight with Klitschko in Manchester on November 26. - Stuff RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-06-2016 Congratulations Izu Ugonoh who just went from IBF 15 to IBF 13 in the September rantings. Also rated WBO # 12 2017 is going to be a big year for Izu .. RE: Heavyweight Division - NakiFan - 10-06-2016 I hope Duco keep him. Izu is a brilliant undercard fighter, especially if he gets into fighting the top 50 in the world. Without Izu, Parker's training camps would be less effective, and they apparently push each other well. It obviously comes down to dollars, so I hope Duco pockets to promote him. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-06-2016 I"ll go one further. I think Parker and Izu are at the same level. Izu just needs a defining fight, like Parker had with Takam. Stu has already put Izu's name up to fight AJ if Hearn can't find an opponent in November. RE: Heavyweight Division - Msreef - 10-06-2016 Izu has fought pretty rubbish opposition though, so it's very difficult to compare. I'd put Parker ahead right now. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-06-2016 Based on competition to date, I agree. RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 10-07-2016 https://www.boxing247.com/boxing-news/david-haye-news/62904 |
