I do think that Parker needs to face Duhaupas.  It would be a good tough fight for him.  Stu says he's got an opponent ready for Izu this week who's pretty good.  Would love for him to crack the top 10.

I heard someone say yesterday on YouTube, if Haye has been elevated to number 3 based on his history having fought two bums since his comeback, why is Shannon Briggs not ranked in the top 15 with his history and having beaten about 8 bums?

I think that to be in the top 15, you have to beat someone in the top 15. Then top 10, then top 5. If you are already in, say the top 15, then you have to fight someone in the top 15 to stay there. Same with top 10 and top 5. That would get competitive fights for the fans.

Agree?

Absolutely, in theory that would be brilliant. Heavyweights don't fight each other in this era though. Heaven forbid someone ever lost their 0

More or less Die. Would need to be opened up a lot thought, like top 15 have to fight within the top 50 or so. So guys could take the oriental belt route to get into the top 50, then have to beat a top 15 to move up. This gives the top guys a challenge(hopefully) and options to fight regularly(required?), and gives the up and comers a chance to break into the top rankings.

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 06-10-2016

Ah, not that hard. So if you are ranked, say #14 in an alphabet, you'd have to fight someone in the top 15 to keep in the top 15 within a year. Couldn't be that hard. No need for top 50. If the regional belts get you in the top 15, good on you. Now you have to defend it. Not that much different than a champ needing to fight a mandatory each year. If for some reason there's no one to fight, or they refuse to fight anyone in their top 5, 10, or 15, the alphabet can step in and mandate a fight.

These guys need to get real. There are 4 belts to choose from, one in each alphabet. What would probably happen is that fighters would only be in one or two alphabets to limit their need to fight in their ranked category.

It’s on! Wilder-Arreola is official

It’s official! Undefeated heavyweight world champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) will defend his title in his home state against Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola (36-4-1, 31 KOs) on FOX July 16 from Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.

Deontay Wilder: “I’m always excited about coming home and being in front of my people where I’m the most comfortable. I’ve been traveling a lot, going over to Sheffield, England to train before I was supposed to fight Alexander Povetkin in Moscow. But because of his decision to use a banned substance, the fight didn’t happen. I’m disappointed about that, but it’s not going to stop me from being an active heavyweight world champion. It has also given me the opportunity to again defend my title before my hometown fans. It’s always good to come home.

“This is the longest stretch that I’ve been out of the ring and I’m anxious to get back in and continue my quest to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. This is another fight in that process. I respect Chris Arreola for getting into the ring with me, but we all know who the real champion is and I’m going to prove it. I’ve been training long and hard for a fight and now I’m going to take it out on Arreola on July 16.”

Chris Arreola: “I’m thankful to Deontay for this opportunity, he has proven a great deal by winning the heavyweight title and by defending it three times. I’m very excited to step into the ring with him, put on a great show, be victorious and make history by becoming the first Mexican heavyweight world champion.”

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and TGB Promotions in association with Bruno Event Team, start at $20 and go on sale tomorrow.

I hope Chris KOs him.

Got to hand it to Wilder he was willing to face Povetkin the hard man in the division and travel for it. I'm thinking Wilder is too smart for Arreola and will stop him mid rounds and hope he does. Wilder has a damn good right hand and needs to set it up like AJ is doing

RE: Heavyweight Division - diehard - 06-14-2016

I hope Arreola wins too. In saying that, I think AJ and Wilder are Parker's two toughest opponents going forward.
