RE: Joseph Parker - NakiFan - 05-19-2017 RE: Joseph Parker - Msreef - 05-19-2017 (05-19-2017, 02:34 PM)Nablonicasso Wrote: Seems kind of unprofessional. Barry is a coach not a promotor or matchmaker. James Slater - May 22, 2017 3 Comments It’s a fight that could happen this summer (although it is also possible Wilder could fight Wladimir Klitschko ) and fans would certainly tune in to see a heavyweight unification bout between Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker. Wilder, the reigning WBC champ and unbeaten, has called out Parker, the WBO ruler and also unbeaten, a few times, and going by Parker’s recent fight – a points win over unheralded Razvan Cojanu, it’s easy to see why. Parker looked less than impressive against his late replacement foe, failing to hurt his man (who had been KO’D quickly in an earlier fight) and even losing the odd round. Punching power is not the be all and end all, even in heavyweight boxing, but at the same time, it’s tough to imagine Wilder labouring to victory against the Romanian the way Parker did. Might Wilder, who has, as we know, been taken the distance just once in almost 40 fights, have an easy time with Parker, and pick up a second belt at the same time? Maybe this is doing Parker, a tough young heavyweight, a disservice, and maybe the New Zealander will be far more of a handful for Wilder. In terms of recent performances, though, it’s hard to picture Parker either overpowering Wilder, outboxing him (Wilder, who has a good jab, is much the taller man, with a longer reach) or physically bullying him. How else can Parker win? Wilder, more experienced than Parker, has shown venomous power, the ability to fight through pain (see his win over Chris Arreola – Arreola being a fighter capable of beating Parker?) and the ability to go 12 rounds if he has to do so. Again, unless Parker has more in the tank than he has thus far shown (quite a lot more ) then Wilder adds that WBO strap to his collection if and when these two get it on. But, can Wilder score another chilling KO? Surely not up next!? RE: Joseph Parker - Kiwi - 05-23-2017 Parker will fight Fury in the UK in July - Bob Arum Were you disappointed with Joseph Parker's recent performance? Are you confident the unification with Wilder will come to fruition? Bob Arum: "Well, Parker's got to fight a mandatory first against Hughie Fury. That will take place in the UK in July." Is there no way around that with an exception so the unification can happen first? Bob Arum: "No because economically it's better off to do Fury and then maybe Joshua. Wilder is a nice guy, but he doesn't bring anything to the table. He doesn't bring any money to the table. Not like these English guys do. What do you do with a Wilder fight? You can't put it on PPV so it goes on regular television and it's not going to do a huge gate." Maybe if you and Al Haymon found the right deal the fight could be on a major network like Fox or NBC. Bob Arum: "But there's no gelt there. There's more gelt in England. In other words, if it's unification you're going to have to compensate Wilder and you're going to have to compensate my guy and there's not enough money." Wilder doesn't bring anything to the table. That's interesting. Bob Arum: "It's not that he doesn't bring anything to the table. He doesn't bring enough to the table, not for another champion. The Wilder-Joshua fight would be interesting, but only in the UK. It wouldn't be huge in the United States, but in the UK it would do big business." RE: Joseph Parker - diehard - 05-23-2017 Good find, Kiwi. Arum is right. Parker needs to fight his mandatory to get the WBO off his back, and Wilder/AJ need to fight. As Hearn says, "Klit, Wilder, and Tyson Fury are the biggest fights for AJ, and those are his next three fights. Parker needs to fight the Hughie's, Bellew's, and Whyte's of the world and bide his time with AJ, keep improving, and then cash out next year, assuming AJ's beats all three. So in other words Joshua fights all the difficult guys in tge division while parker cherry picks all the easy beats and waits for a cash out? Parker and wilder needed to fight each other for a legitimate "champ" to come out of it. And i favoured parker to beat wilder. This is dissapointing RE: Joseph Parker - bart - 05-24-2017 yes def Parker should cherry pick why the hell not? He would make 5mil $nz fighting Hughie and Bellew and hopefully win the 2 (not a given as both difficult) Gain exposure and experience in UK and build a sell out fight with AJ earning another $5-8 mil. RE: Joseph Parker - Beefstew - 05-24-2017 (05-24-2017, 03:14 AM)Infern0 Wrote:AJ had a couple of easy defences and Wilder has had half a dozen so why shouldnt JP?
